eCandescent

eCandescent.com is a one-page, responsive website created to give valuable information about the eCandescent light bulb and their Kickstarter campaign.  It was important that this website present a lot of complicated technical issues in a clean and understandable way.  The one-page layout was perfect for this.  Each section presents a different aspect of the product in the best possible light (pun intended ;-).

The first section uses few words and descriptive pictures to convey what is most important to know about the bulbs and their installation.

It’s a next generation, energy efficient, long lasting, fully dimmable incandescent bulb that produces the highest quality light available. The eCandescent™, dramatically reduces your energy costs, can last over 100 years and has absolutely no dangers or hazards to your family and our environment, and gives you unparalleled‎ lighting control.

The second section is for their Kickstarter campaign.  This was made to look like a family cork board where people post important information they need to remember.  When a date has been set there is a countdown timer and a calendar to show when it will happen.  Included in this section is a mailing list signup form for those who would like to be notified when the Kickstarter campaign begins.

After a Thomas Edison quote spacer section, the next section describes the 12 most important things to know about the eCandescent bulb as well as the dangers of the compact fluorescent lights (CFL) or curly bulbs.  I chose a full-screen background image for this section of a happy family that has a glowing lamp in the background.   This promotes the idea the product is family friendly and enjoyable.

The final sections are FAQs, corporate information and contact forms.  This site also has a Q&A section where people can pose questions and get them answered.  There is also a separate page we call “The Wall” which is a responsive, endless-page gallery which will display all the names of those who pledge to their Kickstarter campaign.  The script for this gallery was specifically chosen to handle thousands of images on a single page.
